Located on its own private island, Shangri La’s Fijian Resort and Spa is a favourite destination for families. Yanucu Island is close to the mainland, connected by a bridge, and is around one hour by road from Nadi airport on Queens Road and around 15km west of Sigatoka. Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort has natural golden sand beaches with a protected deepwater lagoon. There are eight different accommodation types to choose from, plenty of activities including water sports and a nine hole golf course, a gym and fitness centre and tennis courts. Eight restaurants and bars give guests plenty of choice when it comes to dining and Marau Village has traditional Lovo cooking as well as fire walking and Meke shows. For kids there’s the popular Little Chiefs kids club for children aged between 4 and 11 years old. There are different activities arranged each day as well as a children’s pool and children’s playground.
There are 3 pools, tennis courts and a nine-hole golf course as well as a health and fitness club. Other facilities offered include a clinic, complimentary broadband Internet access, conference facilities, a hair and beauty salon, parking facilities and a safe deposit box. The resort also has express check-in and check-out services, a laundry & valet service, photo processing, car rental, a travel agency and tour desk, a florist, a foreign exchange counter, a gift shop and shopping arcade. The spa at the Shangri-La is called Chi and offers massages and treatments based on authentic natural healing methods.
The Shangri La Fijian resort has the Little Chiefs kids club which is for children aged between 4 and 11 years old. The club is free for guests. Children aged under 4 need a babysitter or parent. There are different activities arranged each day based on two age groups 4-8 year olds and 9-11 year olds. Activities take place at the kids' club or at the children’s pool, on the beach or at the children’s playground. The Little Chiefs Club is open every day from 9am to 12noon and 1pm to 5pm. The children’s pool is open during daylight hours and is located in the main pool area. The resort offers a children’s meal plan where up to two kids under 12 eat for free in the Lagoon Terrace restaurant when accompanied by a paying adult. Other family facilities include babysitting, a child-care centre, cots, highchairs, children’s playground, activities program, a teenager program and a games room with pool table, darts, table tennis, video games & TV.
The health club is a fitness centre overlooking the Pacific Ocean with 14 new aerobic stations and free weights. The club is open daily from 6am to 7pm. There’s a nine-hole golf course designed by British Open winner Peter Thompson. There are 3 pools to choose from, the Lagoon pool, the infinity Coral pool and the adults-only Takali pool. For kids there’s the Lagoon children’s pool. On the water there’s parasailing, snorkelling and game fishing as well as a number of other water-based activities. Other activities include bicycles, tennis, a games room, table tennis, mini golf, beach massages, power walks, resort bike tour, grass skirt making, pool games, nature walk, pentaque, cricket, soccer, beach volleyball, pottery making, soft ball, touch rugby and pool volleyball. Firewalking and Meke shows are held regularly in the Marau Village as well as traditionally Lovo cooking. The village can hold 400 people.
There are plenty of dining experiences are available at the Shangri La. The Beach Bar & Grill has an alfresco casual dining area overlooking the pool area. Cafe Coral has light, healthy lunches as well as freshly-made coffee. The Golden Cowrie Restaurant is an adults only breakfast venue and a is transformed into an Italian Restaurant at night. Kalevu is a speciality restaurant that offers cuisine from the Pacific Rim with a live band entertaining each night. This is an adults-only dining venue for guests 16 years and over. The Lagoon Terrace Restaurant has lagoon views and is open for buffet breakfast, lunch & dinner every day of the week. The Takali Terrace Restaurant overlooks the Pacific Ocean with views of the reef and is open during the day for poolside lunch with Asian and seafood cuisine for dinner.
The resort has 442 rooms with air conditioning, 24-hour room service, overhead fans, private balconies, refrigerator, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, radio, in-room safe, hairdryer, complimentary broadband Internet access, in house movies and cable TV.
Superior Lagoon View rooms have views of the lagoon with private balconies. The rooms are 32 sq metres and there are 132 rooms. They have complementary broadband Internet access, They also have pillow menu, plush cotton towels, premium Shangri-La toiletries and slippers and bathrobes.
Superior Ocean View rooms are 32-36 sq m in size and there are 166 rooms. They are ideal for families in a quieter area of the resort and located close to Cafe Coral and Golf and Gym Bure.
Deluxe Ocean Family rooms are ideal for families. They are 43 sq metres in size and have one king size bed and two divans with a private balcony and views of the ocean. They can accommodate up to three adults or two adults and three children.
Premier Lagoon Bure are luxury 2 bedroom suites with separate living and dining areas. They are 106 sq metres in size and they have great views of the ocean. There are four premier lagoon bures and feature marble bathrooms with soaking tub and a separate shower.
