Plantation Island Resort Fiji

Located on the island of Malolo Lailai, Plantation Island is 16 km from the Fiji mainland and is accessible by a 10 minute flight from Nadi airport or a 50 minute trip on the Malolo Cat from Denarau marina. The island covers 533 acres of flat palm tree covered land and features a beautiful lagoon situated right outside much of the accommodation with 7km of white sandy beaches. There are plenty of different types of accommodation to choose from and a number of dining options including a supermarket. Family facilities include the Coconuts kids club which features plenty of activities for kids aged 4 to 11, a pool with a water slide and babysitting facilities. For the adults there’s a 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, snorkelling, fishing, water sports and much, much more.

Facilities

Facilities at Plantation include 3 freshwater Swimming pools, one with a slide for the kids, a resort shop and wood craft shop , a boutique, a coin operated guest laundry, a medical clinic, a mini supermarket, a beachside snack bar, tennis, volleyball, rugby, putt putt golf, netball as well as Internet facilities.

Activities

Plantation Island has its own 9 hole golf course with over 2000 yards of tropical course with a round costing FJD$27 including clubs, balls and tees. Carts are also available for hire.

Surfing is a popular activity with a number of good breaks close by. Plantation offers surfing 4 hour surfing trips daily from FJD$70 per person.

Scuba diving is also available with introductory diving courses to full certification. Dives from Plantation include dives in the inner reef waters to the deeper ocean side of the reef.

Plantation offers a massage service as well a a hair salon with hair cuts, colouring, streaking and hair braiding.

Land based activities include a lawn bowls green, a volley ball court, a rugby oval, a netball field, mini golf, a running track, nature walks, wood carving, coconut tree climbing, kava ceremonies, an art gallery, a handicraft centre, traditional cooking lessons, native medicine lessons, basket and hat weaving, limbo dancing, bingo and frog and crab races.

On the water there’s plenty to keep you occupied. There’s snorkelling, snuba, handline fishing, water skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding, banana boat rides, windsurfing, hobicats, canoeing, swimming, Dolphin safaris, moonlight cruises, sunset cruises, island hopping, shell village trips and game fishing.

Kids

Plantation Island has the 'Coconut Club', a free kids club for guests. When you first visit the club you get a free t-shirt which the kids get to decorate. The club is for kids aged 4 to 11 with kids under 4 requiring a babysitter or parent to attend. The club is open daily from 9am to 1pm, 2pm to 5pm and 6.30pm till 9pm. The kids club room has a ball pit, jumping castle and TV and the activities features a mixture of traditional games combined with Fijian cultural activities. Kids activities include: jumping castle, tug o war, colour crayons, treasure hunt, longboat ride, stick dance, balloon dance, ball pit, fish feeding, canoe races, sand castles, crab hunting, video movies, concerts, board games, beach games, marco polo, coin, game. Limbo, T-shirt painting, weaving lessons, water polo, running race, frog race, crab races and beading.

There are three pools, one with a water slide as well as a children’s playground, a mini Putt Putt golf course and a games room. There is a children’s crèche available as well nanny and child minding facilities.

Dining

There are plenty of dining options available with three restaurants, a snack bar and an on site supermarket. Plantation also offers a number of meal plans that you can choose from including an all meals option or a breakfast only option.

The Ol’ Cophra Shed Restaurant and Brigham Bar serves breakfast lunch and dinner, with nightly themed buffets and live music. The Black Coral Restaurant and Bar features al la carte Pacific Rim cuisine in an intimate setting. Ananda’s Restaurant and Bar has home style cooking with seafood, curries and BBQ dishes and is open for lunch and dinner and the Lomani Island Resort’s Flame Tree Restaurant & Cocktail Bar is an adults only fine dining open for lunch and dinner.

The Kana Vale snack bar is open from 10am to 3pm and serves burgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches and chips. Ananda’s Supermarket has plenty of the basics including fresh bread, fruit, cereals and drinks. There is also a Espresso and Frappe bar and a mini mart located near the boatshed building.

Accommodation

There are a number of different accommodation choices available at Plantation from hotel rooms to large beachfront bures. Rooms have overhead fans, refrigerator, tea/coffee making facilities and air conditioning.

Beachfront bures have 2 rooms plus a bathroom and have a queen bed, 2 singles and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults.

2 Bedroom Garden Bures have 3 rooms plus a bathroom with one queen bed and two single beds and air conditioning.

Studio Garden Bures have one room plus a bathroom with one queen bed and two single beds and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults and one child.

Poolside rooms have one room plus a bathroom with one queen bed and two single beds and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults and one child.

1 Bedroom Garden Bures have 2 room plus a bathroom with one queen bed and two single beds and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults and one child.

Beachfront Hotel Rooms have one room plus a bathroom with one queen bed and one single bed and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults and one child. Extra bed available on request.

Hotel Rooms have one room plus a bathroom with one queen bed and one single bed and air conditioning and can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults and one child. Extra bed available on request. Option of garden view (ground floor) or ocean view (second floor).

Location

Located around 16km west of Nadi airport on Malolo Lailai, Plantation is accessible by boat or plane with a small airstrip located on the island. The Malolo Cat runs 4 services a day from Denarau marina to Plantation Island. The trip takes around 50 minutes. Other connection options include a light plane ride through Pacific Sun Air which takes about 10 minutes from Nadi airport, an Island Hoppers helicopter ride or a Pacific Islands Seaplane ride. The Malolo Cat is the cheapest of the options with an adult return from around FJD$140 and kids under 16 half price (an also include bus transfers from the airport).
