We went to Pacific Bay Resort Coffs Harbour in August 2002
with our then 18 month old.
This resort is great for families - especially those with kids
over two - as there is a terrific kids club that operates every day. The staff
are wonderful, friendly and offer great activities for kids of all ages.
The resort has all the usual 'resorty' features - golf course,
tennis, basketball etc - also a lovely family pool area with a warm toddler pool
and main pool. There is also another pool in the complex for lap swimmers.
The resort is the home of the Australian Wallabies football
team and so the gym is first class - with friendly staff who are very keen to
help you use the equipment. Bikes, surfboards and lots of other sporting equipment are all
available as well.
The restaurant is lovely - breakfasts are particularly good -
and the bar offers nightly happy hours.
The resort is just north of Coffs Harbour. To see the area, we
felt a car was needed, however, you could possibly get by with the local buses -
but with kids, I wouldn't recommend it. The resort is part of the Accor Advantage Plus programme -
which offers half price accommodation and meal deals. It may be worth looking
this up as it can be lead to big savings after you have become a member and paid
a one off annual fee ( about $200 I think)
All up - even though our little boy was too young to fully
take advantage of the whole place - we felt this was a great Australian
destination. Coffs Harbour has lots to do - eg zoo, Big Banana and with the
world the way it is at present - maybe holidaying 'at home' is a good idea!
