We stayed in Feb 2008 in a 3 bedroom apartment. Great location, far enough not to be a part of Surfers Paradise, but Surfers is easily accessible by bus for $5 return - a 15 minute journey each way, buses come every 10 minutes. Very close to patrolled beach, although the current is very strong and not suitable for weak swimmers. The apartment was clean and had all facilities (including wi fi). The decor was a little bit dated, but everything worked. The beds were old and all the adults were stiff in the mornings. We had a huge balcony and loved sitting outside. The pools were the highlight of the resort; two of them, both with paddling areas for kids. Clean, warm, pleasant to be in. Lots of bbq areas. Although the staff left us to our own devices, they didn't go out of their way to help, they were polite enough. Don't buy theme park tickets from here; the cheapest we found was a Japanese place on Cavill Avenue in Surfers.

We recently visited the grande florida and had a fabulous holiday. The pools are fabulous. It is in a convenient not too busy area. The beach is a short walk and patrolled. Our room had recently been refurbished so it looked great. We stayed in a 3broom apartment. The only down side was three flights of stairs. We had the best holiday ever!!

After previous great experiences I recently stayed at the Grande Florida and was sorely disappointed. The rooms were very tired and are desperately in need of a refurbish. The staff are extremely discourteous and show little interest in ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The only redeeming factor was the pleasant pool surroundings. I'm not sure if it's because the resort has now joined the Accor group but the overall experience was deplorable. I would definitely NOT recommend this place - there are much better available at the Gold Coast.

We have stayed at the Grande Florida Resort for the last 2 years. We go to Queensland in May, as we have a 4y/o and a 2y/o. It's alot cheaper at that time of year, the weather is still great and lines at the theme parks are virtually non-existant. On both occasions we've booked a 2 bedroom apartment on the bottom floor (as our boys are climbers!) and each time it's been fantastic. The rooms are clean, the service is wonderful and having 2 bathrooms means everyone gets ready to hit the theme parks in record time! The apartment we had consisted of 2 bedrooms (1 double, 2 singles and a pull out sofa in the lounge) - there is also paytv to keep the kids occupied while you get ready in the mornings. The resort itself is set around 2 huge pools (one of which is heated). There are alot of bbq's around the resort (all set inside the security pool fencing) and the children's pool has a sandy beach each and non slip bottom. They also have a night where you can meet all of the other guests and they put on some food. There is a games room but don't bother - it's full of coin operated machines and a very sad looking table tennis table - luckily it's set down a flight of stairs (it's actually in the carpark) so kids don't really notice it. The resort is a very short walk to the beach - straight out the security gate and over the street - great for when the kids decided they'd had enough for the day and it was time to retreat quickly! We highly recommend the Grande Florida Resort as a great place to stay with your children.
