My partner, myself and my 8 year old son spent Christmas and New Years at the Sheraton Royal Denaru Island Fiji and had a fantastic time. The children's club (Li Li club) was wonderful and very cheap - $25.00 fijian for the entire stay and the children can go to the club as often or as little as they like. The club had morning, afternoon and evening sessions, the activities ranged from craft, catamaran rides, crab races, movies, and swimming. The staff who ran the club were very friendly, fun and extremely capable. My son absolutely loved it and he was able to come "home" on the "Bulla Bus" by himself, which was great as we didn't have to leave the pool/lounge and he felt so grown up. He met friends from all over the world, Russia, Korea, USA etc. Also played all morning on the last day with a local Fijian boy at the adjacent island, they had a ball together even though they couldn't speak each other's language. The great thing about staying at the Sheraton was that guests can utilise the facilities across the entire resort including pools, restaurants. We loved the Aqua Aerobics in the morning, yoga, volleyball - however be aware that things don't necessarily run on time, or at all, so if the scheduled activity doesn't happen, its just part of the Fijian experience. We loved the laid back atmosphere of the resort, however this also meant that some of the restaurants take forever to serve you your meal, and also some restaurants are very expensive, so it pays to look around. All the restaurants have a Li Li children's meal for under 9's at a set $7.00 - which was terrific, my son loved the hot dogs, burgers etc. We stayed in a Garden View room which was very adequate, with two queen sized beds, plenty of room to move, had a fridge, didn't have a tv, but that was great for weening my son off it. Water was very expensive at $5.00 for a 2 litre bottle it soon adds up for a family, can't do much about that though, as the local water was a bit dodgy. Things to be aware of: 1. We all ended up getting head lice from the helmets at the bike hire. 2. Tennis was fun but really expensive $45.00 for an hour. 3. Nadi is unsafe at night for women alone - we explored it for a meal one night and found the food was about the same price/value as the resort. 4. Customs took forever to process our flight - an hour with kids in a hot airport isn't fun. 5. Take duty free grog with you as a beer is $5.00. 6. Pack plenty of sunscreen, need to reapply all the time. 7. Don't expect taxis, buses, or activities to run on time.

All in all it was a wonderful holiday and we have so many lovely memories, it was perfect for children of any ages, there seemed to be lots of families with babies and plenty of "Bulla mums" to help out.

We stayed here (Sheraton Fiji Resort) in May 2003 with our 2 children and would highly recommend it. Being only a 10 minute journey from the airport I was thankful we hadn't booked down the Coral Coast which is closer to an hour away. The Sheraton's staff were fantastic & our room was situated on the beachfront with a KS bed & 2x rollaways for the kids. Still enough room to move around & a generous size bathroom & balcony. What we enjoyed the most was that we could use the pool/restaurants at the Sheraton Villas & Royal Denarau & have everything booked back to our room. The Villas has a swim up bar & horizon pool which we frequented quite a lot. There were a good variety of places to eat within the 3 resorts & the buffet breakfast was a highlight for our kids. The kids club (free) was a huge success with our kids & we found ourselves childless on many afternoons/evenings, therefore were able to have a romantic dinner on several occasions. The marina was situated only 5mins away we meant easy access to cruises or transfers to other islands. After hiring a car & driving down to the Coral Coast & checking out the other properties we were glad we had chosen the Sheraton & found the Coral Coast a little disappointing. It was not overly expensive and I would thoroughly recommend it for families.
