I note that many are seeking info on Phuket so somewhat belatedly I will fill you in on our visit in Sept 2001. The resort is absolutely various parts of the hotel. Two fabulous pools one with a water slide. There is also a stunning beautiful views of the ocean lovely breezes though the open colonnades connecting the games room.
Our family consists of two adults and one very lively 13year old. Despite asking the travel agent for a kid friendly resort there were almost no children staying at the hotel when we visited. It might have been something to do with Sept 11 which had just happened but there were plenty of families in evidence around the streets and at the airport.
We were not offered a meals package and so food costs were very high. Packages including meals are available so ask. The hotel has 6 restaurants all spectacular especially the Thai one.
Must see the Fantasy show well worth the $100 local shopping fun and cheap. Best way to get around, negotiate with the Tuk Tuk drivers to take you around all day. I think we paid about $25 and he was great. Hotel can arrange air conditioned hire cars, more comfortable but not more fun.
The room was quite large with lovely views, plenty of quiet nooks around the hotel for a read and a drink. On site day spa for fabulous massages.
Only drawback was cost of food and drink (compatible although with any similar hotel here) and the lack of kids for our boy to play with.
