We had the most fabulous family holiday at Pondok Ayu, Sanur, Bali. It is a small hotel (4 rooms) back from the busy beach front in Sanur. There was an amazing bunch of staff (English speaking) who made or stay very pleasant. We took our 16 month old son and he had a wonderful time. The staff were so friendly towards him and he had a great time pottering around the lovely, enclosed and safe grounds. The gardens are so beautiful, surrounding a pool with a step, perfect for little children, it really is a little piece of paradise. It is the most toddler friendly place we have ever been and the ladies who work there have personal experience with children and we trusted them 100% to baby-sit our son for blocks in the afternoon or at night while we went out for evening meals. The staff drove us where we wanted to go or helped us to organise trips. The rooms were USD$45 PER ROOM PER NIGHT which included TAX, AIRPORT TRANSFERS, ARRIVAL DRINK, AMERICAN BREAKFAST, TEA & COFFEE MAKING FACILITIES, PERSONAL SECURITY BOX IN YOUR ROOM, (which we didn't feel the need to use) FRIDGE, A/C, T/V, DIRECT DIALLING and much more. We had 4 in our room: double, single and cot for this inexpensive price. Babysitting, massage, manicures and pedicures were also available at a tiny cost. Despite what has happened in Bali (we were there during the second attack) we would be back there tomorrow.

My husband and my 23 month old son stayed at pondok ayu for 12 nights. It was recommended by a Qantas staff member when booking our flights. I'm still in amazement as to what a gem we discovered! the hotel was small and intimate, villa style and immaculately clean at all times. we had friends from Singapore who met us there too and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. because of the size you made friends with the other guests who were staying there and it was a lovely family environment. the staff are just amazing, nothing is to much trouble for Gede the manager and the rest of the staff are just gorgeous. the babysitting was fantastic too, and extremely cheap. barb and steve the owners (who were there the same time as us) were absolutely fantastic and by the time we left we felt like we were saying goodbye to family. I can highly recommend this place for anyone who has children as it was just such an easy place to be staying at.

My wife and two boys, 13 and 6 years, have just returned from a stay at Pondok Ayu in January 2005. We went there solely on the recommendations I had read previously on this site! It is an amazing place, service of the highest quality and a real family atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff! There are only four rooms in the hotel, which is more like a private villa, and the cost is only $45US per night. We only had three nights there, after staying six at Hard Rock Hotel in Kuta. We didn't rate the Hard Rock too highly, great pools, but it takes a long time to walk in and out of the hotel, live bands every night between 8 and 12 (you can here it no matter where your room is), and the rooms are small and a bit run down. So next time we go to Bali, it will be a stay exclusively at Pondok Ayu. You will not be disappointed!

I have just returned from one of the BEST holidays ever. Two weeks in Bali at Pondok Ayu, Sanur. www.pondok.com.au This is a small hotel which is only a couple of years old. It has 4 rooms and is a haven for anyone especially families with small kids. I have stayed at many hotels and travelled to over 70 countries but the service at the hotel was something unique. I holidayed with my husband, 2 year old boy and 8 month old girl. Nothing was ever too much to ask for. Gede is the manager of the boutique hotel and is the sort of staff member that they should bottle! It felt like we were staying with friends, the staff all made you feel so welcome and baby sitting was there at a drop over a hat @ under $2.00 per hour. What makes this hotel a real find also is its price USD 45 per night for the 4 of us!! We will be back!
