Naviti Resort, Fiji Review The Naviti Resort Fiji is aimed at families. The facilities for kids (especially 3- 8 years) are fantastic. A kid's club, fun park and kid's pool are just some of the highlights for kids. But it doesn't stop there, with a fantastic kid's menu and friendly staff, who will go out of their way to ensure your children (and you) have a memorable holiday. Naviti resort is about two hours from Nadi by bus and is situated on the Coral Coast. We visited in August 1999. Naviti Resort Kids Club
The Naviti Resort kids club is easily the best we've experienced. The kids have their own play room with its own jumping castle, similar to one of the many kids fun factory's now available in Sydney, mainly suited to the two-eight age bracket. There are organised activities throughout the day for the kids including fish feeding, games and much more. At night time the activities include talent quests, dancing competitions, limbo dancing, frog racing, videos etc. Adults can dine in peace knowing the kids are well looked after and happy. For the under fives you will need to arrange a baby sitter, but this is not a problem as long as you book, the cost only $1.50 per hour.
Naviti Resort Rooms
There are two types to choose from. The garden view and the ocean view. The size of the rooms are the same, and while not being large, they comfortably fit two adults and two kids. There are only two levels with the bottom level balcony opening up onto the gardens (ie it's not enclosed) and the top level with a generous balcony, both with outdoor furniture. All rooms are air conditioned and have a queen bed for the adults and two single beds for the kids. There's a fully stocked bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. The difference between the rooms is the view, with the ocean view rooms (obviously) overlooking the ocean and the garden view rooms overlooking the golf course and the mountains behind the resort.
Naviti Resort Meals Kids meal time at the Naviti Resort is from 5.30 to 6.30 and offers a fantastic choice of food for the kids ranging from hamburgers and pizzas to vegetables, steak, chicken and desserts including a fantastic variety of fresh fruit. For the adults there's a choice of three restaurants, one of which usually has a theme night buffet, one al la carte and the third a fine dining restaurant. The food quality is great and the cost reasonable. Breakfast can be basic to full american and lunch can be hot dogs and chips by the pool or a sit down lunch in the poolside restaurant. Naviti Resort Activities The Naviti resort offers many activities and most of them are free. There's the pool with pool volleyball played at least once a day and a small pool for the toddlers. Next to the pool there' a playground for the kids and the beach is only about 10 metres away. On the beach you can use the canoes, windsurfers, sailboats or grab some flippers and go snorkelling. The other activities i nclude fishing, tennis and golf (9 hole course). There's also a games and fitness room. Night time activities include traditional Fijian entertainment, fire walking, frog racing and theme nights.
Naviti Resort All Inclusive The Naviti resort all inclusive package includes all meals, beer and wine, free drinks and ice cream for the kids all day. The meal choice and quality is very good. When we visited the Naviti resort this package was great value and very convenient. The price seems to vary depending on the time of year and whether there's a special on at the time. Check the cost with your travel agent and work out if you can do it for less. As a guide allow $20/adult for breakfast, $25 for lunch and $50 for dinner - still leaves you Fun Park entry and drinks. Don't forget that kids eat free anyway. In its favour the all inclusive is very convenient and you certainly don't worry about the cost of each dish. Naviti Resort Shopping The closest town is Sigatoka about 40 minutes by taxi from the Naviti resort. Plenty of duty free stores and clothing shops. The duty free shopping is similar to Australia so don't expect any bargains, however clothing is cheap and is good quality. Cheap supplies can be purchased at a supermarket (usually at about half the price you pay at the resort). I'd recommend that you avoid the market area, especially with children, as the Indian traders are very persistent and will place jewellery etc on the kids or carve your names on souviners putting pressure on you to buy. Naviti Resort Tips - Try and get an early flight if possible so you don't arrive too late at night or in the early hours of the morning. - the same applies for the return flight. If your flight leaves Nadi at 7:30am you will be leaving the resort at 3.30am - The cost of a private car from the airport isn't much more than the bus transfer and you don't have to stop at every resort on the way. - if you intend to play golf at the Naviti pack some golf balls (there's water hazards all over the course and you'll be charged a couple of dollars for each ball you lose). - if you don't have the all inclusive package it may be a good idea to buy some supplies at Sigatoka (things like bottled water, drinks, beer, chips). Naviti Resort Negatives It's a two hour bus trip from Nadi to the Naviti resort. There are kids everywhere. Don't expect too much peace. The beach is a tidal lagoon - there's no water at low tide. The rooms aren't very spacious, there's not much room to move with two kids. If you can afford it consider getting inter-connecting rooms, which you will need to do anyway if you've got more than two kids.
